These projects will be sent for Competitions such as:
(a) Science - Singapore SHELL Youth Science Festival
(b) Engineering - Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors Award
or any related competitions.

Dear students,

You should be able to finish your experiment by the end of this week.
Deadline: 22 Aug 2014 

After which, you are to prepare your:

(a) Written Report. Your teacher will give you 1 feedback 
if you are able to submit on time: deadline is 29 Aug 2014 
Submit in PRINTED so that your teacher can assess it 
and give you comments to make improvement before 3 Sep 2014.

(b) Blog - after corrections are made in (a), updated by 3 Sep 2014  

(c) Video - 2 to 4 minute video - post on Youtube and linked to Blog - Multimedia page by 3 Sep 2014

(d) Poster - A1 format - emailed to your teacher - Poster by 3 Sep 2014 

(e) Log Book - Submit to your teacher on 3 Sep 2014.

(f) Each day of delay will cost you 5%.

Dear students, 

1. Please update your ISS Title if you have not done so. 

2. Please note that this module for Science is 33.4%. 
20.0 % will be allocated to the project.
13.4 % will be allocated to the End-of-year EXAMS.

Group Formation, Title submission

This is urgent ! 

Please get yourselves into groups of 2, 3 or 4, within the same class.

3 is the preferred number. You may use the IRS groupings or you can create new groupings. 
Please prepare your FULL NAMES, SST EMAIL, and HANDPHONE numbers. 

There are 6 main types of research that you can do:
(1) Test a hypothesis: Hypothesis-driven research
(2) Measure a value: Experimental research (I)
(3) Measure a function or relationship: Experimental research (II) 
(4) Construct a model: Theoretical sciences and applied mathematics
(5) Observational and exploratory research 
(6) Improve a product or process: Industrial and applied research 
For more ideas, you can refer to 2013 and 2012 research projects.


You should think about the MAIN equipment that is needed for your project.

Assessment

Just some information about Assessment:

In Sec 2, there are 3 components:
(a) Communication Science (Physics),  {33.3%}
(b) Environmental Science (Biology),  {33.3%}
(c) Investigative Skills in Science (Research).  {33.4%}

For ISS, the exact items for assessment are:
(i) ISS Project {100 marks converted to 20.0%}
(ii) ISS Exam (Paper 3 in End-of-year Examinations) {40 marks converted to 13.4%}
